"About once a month I have a good trawl around the internet to try and find anything good, or obscure, from the world of AOR. On this particular trek, I came across a website for Shy that is run by their old drummer Alan Kelly. The whole site is dedicated to the original, and best, versions of Shy. On there, Alan is advertising a double DVD of old Shy material. Not backward in coming forward, I asked him for a copy, he duly obliged and sent me one. It's basically a video document of life on the road (A lot of the road footage is centered around the "Excess All Areas" and "Misspent Youth" albums) , studio and live enviroment. It's no big budget affair, strictly camcorder I'm afraid, but it is a great insight into a band at their peak. Die-hard Shy fans will love this. As well as several interesting encounters with the band on the road, in Holland, L.A, London, New York for the "Give It All You Got" video shoot and Russia, It contains five videos for the likes of "Hold On (To Your Love)", "Brave The Storm", "Break Down The Walls", "Give It All You Got" and "It's Only Rock N Roll". It may be a real warts 'n' all production, complete with bad lighting, camera shake and poor sound, but as documentation of a great, british, AOR band in their prime, it's a great way to spend a couple of hours of your time.
